2017 Trail Run 2018-03-27T07:40:21+00:00

Trail Run for Charity

Charterhouse Club is encouraging runners to sign up for the annual Trail Run, on 15th October 2017, and help raise funds for Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care. Now in its eighth year the event is growing in popularity and it is hoped that entrants will raise sponsorship in aid of Phyllis Tuckwell, which provides supportive and end of life care for patients and families who are living with a terminal illness, but which has to raise over £20,000 a day to do this. Early bird registration discounts are available from 14th May until 31st July 2017 online here.

The Trial Run is a family friendly event and runners can opt to take part in a 1k Fun Run, 5k, or 10k. The longer chip timed distances will take runners along picturesque, but challenging woodland trails around Charterhouse School. All runners will set off from outside of the Club, with the Fun Run starting at 10am. The 5k and 10k runs will begin at 10.30am. Prizes, sponsored by Alton Sports, will be presented to the winners of the 5k and 10k events.

Tim Ostle, Commercial Director at Charterhouse, commented: “For the first time, we have decided to partner with a charity for the Trail Run. We chose Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care as it has provided amazing support to some of our Club members. We hope that many people from across Surrey and beyond will be inspired to take part in the run and raise sponsorship for such a worthy cause.”

Phyllis Tuckwell is the only Hospice Care service for adult patients living with cancer or another terminal illness across the whole of West Surrey and part of North East Hampshire. Every day they support over 250 patients, carers and relatives in their own homes, in the community, at the Hospice in Farnham and at the Beacon Centre in Guildford.

Andrew Lodge, Charterhouse Club member, added: “It is wonderful that the Club is supporting Phyllis Tuckwell, who provided great support to my wife Julie late last year, ensuring she received outstanding end of life care. Thanks to them we were able to enjoy our last days together and I can’t thank them enough.”

“We would like to thank Charterhouse Club for choosing to support Phyllis Tuckwell, and we hope that many people take part in the Trail Run, which is a brilliant way to raise money for a vital local cause,” said Ashleigh Tennent, Community Fundraising Manager at Phyllis Tuckwell. “Every day we support over 250 patients, relatives and carers, in their own homes, in the community, at the Hospice in Farnham and at the Beacon Centre in Guildford, but as the NHS/Government only covers 20% of our costs, we have to raise over £20,000 a day to do this, and therefore rely heavily on the support and generosity of our local community.”
